Tel Aviv's Bicycle Strategy

Turning the economic and cultural capital of Israel into a bicycle city.

Since 2019, we've been working with a team of local planners, architects, and engineers to deliver Tel Aviv's bicycle strategy. This multi-year plan is the most comprehensive attempt in an Israeli city, to create a complete bicycle network, strengthen active travel, and promote the bicycle culture.

The team has been working with a variety of stakeholders to create a plan that may triple the (already high) bicycle modal split in Israel's economic capital. This strategic plan deals with both the physical and institutional elements of cycling.

Among others, Humankind has been working on the best practices of cycling, and their adaptation to the local context. Through a thorough analysis of existing conditions and needs, we've contributed to the plan examples and technical practices from the world's best bicycle cities.
